THE LAUNCH OF TRANSPARENCY INTERNATIONAL Malaysia – Voluntary Forest Monitors Programme (TIM-VFM) in Conjunction with EARTH DAY 2012

The Transparency International Malaysia – Voluntary Forest Monitors Programme (TIM-VFM) was launched on 19 April 2012 at Grand Dorsett Subang Jaya to recruit volunteers to become guardians of the forests to address suspicious activities that pose threats to sustainable management of forestry. The Volunteers will be educated on issues related to forestry and trained to monitor forests and assess threats. The experiences gained will merit them to assist with Forest Governance Integrity Programme’s Public Awareness Campaign scheduled throughout the year and also participate in other organized events.

Objectives;
1. Education, capacity building and outreach programme on issues related to forestry.
2. Human resources development for forest governance in Malaysia.
3. Creating a knowledge based society to ensure the success of sustainable forest governance in Malaysia.
4. Assist with implementation of FGI Public Awareness Campaign Calendar 2012.
